Brunel Business School student receives Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Prize for Postgraduate Research

Brunel Business School doctoral student, Ms. Daniela Castillo, has been awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Prize for Postgraduate Research. This prize aims to support students in communicating and disseminating high quality research to wider audiences. It is awarded to doctoral students who have had their papers accepted at a national or international research conference, via a competitive process.

Ms. Castillo’s work is exploring the highly topical subject of the role of Artificial Intelligence in Customer Service Encounters, and is being very well received among the scholar community. For instance, she received the best paper award at the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Service Interactions (AIRSI) workshop, last summer; and she published the paper “The dark side of AI-powered service interactions: exploring the process of co-destruction from the customer perspective”, in The Service Industries Journal.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Prize refers to Ms. Castillo’s forthcoming presentation at the European Marketing Academy Conference (EMAC). Dr Ana Canhoto, who is supervising Ms Castillo, said:

“EMAC is the leading conference in Europe, for Marketing scholars, and it is a very competitive meeting. It is difficult to get work accepted for presentation at this conference. Hence, it is very impressive that not only has Ms Castillo been invited to present at this esteemed conference, but that she had two papers accepted! Congratulations, Daniela”.
